Garden Dreaming

Garden Dreaming

While the snow flies and the wind blows I stay indoors dreamily planning a new summer garden. I love thumbing through old issues of Country Garden and Garden Gate magazines and the seed catalogs that are beginning to arrive. This house came with lots of greenery; shrubs, hostas, boxwoods, trees, etc. but not many blooming flowers. This winter I'm thinking about things I want to move around and new things I want to add, making new gardens where none were before.

I came across this photo of an old farm house and it remimded me of mine. I can so see my front porch dressed up with some cheery colors and lots of blooming flowers. I already have boxwoods growing along the front. I think I'll tuck in some yellow daylilies and a few bright red geraniums. Maybe even some blue myosotis here and there. I already know that at the far end of the porch, along the privacy fence, I want to plant a jasmine vine. I lived in a house once where jasmine grew wild in the wooded area to the back. The fragrance carried on the breezes was so sweet and wonderful that I simply have to have one here. How fun it is to have a blank slate on which to plan whatever my heart desires, and to have these winter months to dream it.

This sounds like so much fun. I can see that you have lots of good inspiration. I can't wait to see what you come up with. I was just thinking that I should get out and cut back the hydrangeas today while it is mild. I cleaned the inside of our vehicles instead.

You already have so much nice stuff to work with. Whatever you put with it will be spectacular.
Your gardens always show creativity,,,,I'll be excited to see.

The thing about a new place is that it takes awhile to figure out where you live in it and what you want. Our place has evolved thru the years and will keep evolbing and thats the fun part of owning a house. You have some great ideas there. Winter is the time for dreaming and Spring for putting those dreams into action. Look forward to seeing it all. Maybe you need to do a dream yard journal.. some drawing, some pasting. I can see it now. :)

I totally understand :)
A clean slate is wonderful and to dream of spring and how your garden will eventually be.
We are finally having winter, that means cold but sunny weather.
When I came home today I looked in my garden and thought I can't wait to see how it will be in spring now that I have moved so many of my shrubs and flowers because of the shed.
I think it is exiting to dream of this in the winter......
I am sure you will make this garden into you paradise. I remember your garden you had in the house before it was so lovely. So is thins one but it needs your signature
