The Fairy Garden

I wasn't going to do a post today because I don't have any art to share with you, but then I decided I'd show you a few bits of the fairy garden I'm working on.

This is the little corner coming off the steps from the back deck. The area between my deck and a behemouth of a tree in my backyard is too narrow to mow and it is very shady in summer so the previous owners had mulched an area between the two but hadn't planted much other than a peony (behind the fairy) and some daylilies which you can see in the left of this photo. I decided that this would be the perfect spot for a woodland wildflower fairy garden. I have transplanted a lot of the "Star of Bethlehem" - thank you, Lisa for identifying this plant for me - and several hostas, some lirope and, as you remember, some violets.

Last weekend this cute little one foot high fairy joined the garden. She is gently carrying a bird in her hands which is a nice touch as this is also where I feed the birds, squirrels and hummingbirds.

I have a lot of this lily of the valley in other places around the yard that I can move here too. I've also put in some pretty pink lamium which I hope will eventually create a nice ground cover.

What's this, another fairy?? It is! If you keep your eyes open you can spot fairies lounging among your flowers everywhere. I found this one under my ostrich ferns. How'd she get over there?
