I've been keeping very busy working at the arboretum. Additionally, I've been working on a few other natural items for consideration for their holiday fund raiser. I showed my first tag to my supervisor and she really liked this idea. I don't know how much money something like this would raise but every little dollar helps.
This one was, again, made using purchased handmade paper for the background and then adding leaves and flowers.
The reverse side of the tags have interest also. On this one I adhered a painted dryer sheet and added a small piece of plain paper for inscribing a message or a signature. For now I topped it with natural twine, but raffia could also serve as a ribbon.
I remembered that I had purchased these little 6.5" square frames on sale some time ago and I decided to work up a little picture in them just to see how it looks. The opening is a mere 3" x 3" so I have to work small.
These are just samples to show for future consideration, but I think they are a nice, simple but pretty item to bring in a dollar or two.
Tomorrow I begin my three consecutive Mondays training in the Butterfly House. I have to learn the many varieties of butterflies found here in Ohio, their caterpillars and the flowers to grow to attract them to your gardens. Once I have completed the training I will be able to give tours and hopefully answer questions when the house opens in July. If I don't melt in the heat I think I will enjoy this very much.
